| Water for the park and the town is reticulated from a flowing artesian bore situated on the western edge of the town on the corner of Chipu and Brolga Streets (just under the red Channel Country Caravan Park sign).
The bore was sunk in 1933 to a depth of 899.8 metres. It flows in excess of 1 000 000 gallons per day. At the bore head the temperature of the water is about 54 degrees celsius and is reticulated under its own pressure. You may find, particularly in winter, that you have to run the hot water for a couple of minutes for the water to heat up. Cooling tanks are essential at all premises in order to provide us wih cold water. Bore water does have a distinctive smell and taste but it is excellent for ablution purposes. Many households have rainwater tanks for their drinking supply but some other live by bore water alone. In the cabins you will find cold rain water in the fridge. If you would like a refill, our rainwater tank is located behind the amenities block.
